Telecommunications Engineer (Communication, Networking and Broadcast Technologies)

Athanasios Lioumpas (Dipl.Eng. 2005, Ph.D. 2009, M.Sc 2020, ) is an experienced telecommunications engineer and researcher with specialization in mobile and fixed telephony networks. Career highlights: - 10 years of working experience with telecom vendors (NOKIA) and operators (Forthnet, Cyta Hellas), as a network design engineer (MVNO, mobile core, IMS, VoLTE, VoWifi, NFV-based mobile core). - 12 years (overlapping) of working experience as research engineer (Industry, Universities, Research Institutes), involved in major European-funded projects in the area of 4G/5G mobile networks, M2M/MTC and IoT. - Co-author of more than 50 high-impact research papers (more than 1200 citations), incl. a best paper award (IEEE ICC). - Co-inventor of 5 patents. - Associate Editor, IEEE Communications Letters (2013-2017)
