Mild steel, composed primarily of iron (Fe) and carbon (C), is widely used in industry due to its strength and affordability. However, its low corrosion resistance is a significant limitation. To address this, researchers have explored modifying mild steel by coating it with antioxidant compounds that can delay, slow down, or prevent corrosion. This study focuses on developing an organic corrosion inhibitor from onion peel extract, which offers a sustainable and non-toxic alternative to traditional chemical corrosion inhibitors. The corrosion inhibition efficiency of the onion peel extract is evaluated in sodium chloride medium, with the goal of identifying a effective and environmentally friendly corrosion protection strategy for mild steel.
